These two lectures are an introduction to Latin American art of the 20th Century, a panorama that will outline the particularities and fundamental interests of its plastic creation in relation to the historical and political context.
The first session will focus on the Mexican Revolution, Muralism, and its influence across the continent. The second session will address Geometric Movements, Modern Painting, and Conceptualisms.

Julia Buenaventura, historian and art critic with a focus on Latin America.
Ph.D. in Architecture and Urbanism from the University of São Paulo USP, Brazil, and Master in History, Criticism and Theory of Art and Architecture from the National University of Colombia. She did postdoctoral research at the School of Communications and Arts of the University of São Paulo USP, Brazil, where she was a professor in the graduate area and a member of the Nucleo de Pesquisa e Curadoria of the Tomie Ohtake Institute. She is currently the founder of Escuela Concreta, Cali, Colombia.
